StreetInvest in the Guardian
As our International Day for Street Children campaign, ‘They are depending on us’, came to an end yesterday, The Guardian published this story which appeared on its website’s front page: ‘Will we die of hunger?’: how Covid-19 lockdowns imperil street children.
In the article by Jo Griffin, which leads with a photograph of the Glad’s House Street Work team in Mombasa, StreetInvest CEO Duncan Ross describes the concerns of StreetInvest and its partners for the safety of street children during the Covid-19 pandemic. Bokey, Director of StreetInvest’s East Africa Regional Coordinating Partner Glad’s House are also featured alongside friends of StreetInvest uMthombo (South Africa) and Karunalaya (India).
This is much-needed exposure for street children, Street Workers and the importance of supporting children at this desperate time. We continue to work with our partners across the Global Alliance for Street Work to pressure governments to include Street Workers in their emergency responses to Covid-19.
Please read and share the article and remember you can still contribute to our Urgent Appeal to provide vital supplies and help street workers reach the most vulnerable children during this crisis here.
